Welcome to my scrapbook of things I’ve said about politics and social media, most of which are probably a bit embarrassing now.

Scroll down past that to read about the books and film I am featured in. Some more mortifying than others – but I have embraced my cringe.

Journalist Marie Le Conte‘s brilliant 2022 book Escape: How a generation shaped, destroyed and survived the internet is a fascinating insight into growing up online. We had some great conversations about how we experienced this, relating to our political activism, and also the strange pain of the things we’ve lost to internet evolutions.

I feature in former BBC Newsnight / Channel 4 News economist Paul Mason‘s 2012 book Why It’s Kicking Off Everywhere: The New Global Revolutions – talking about my Internet use for social change and general socialising. It also has my overly honest quote ‘I tweet in my dreams’ as a chapter title.

Kitchen Sink Films and Quark Films have made a wonderful 2012 documentary called The Real Social Network about the use of new media and technology in our ‘new generation of protest’. I’m quite a main character in it and awkwardly refer to myself as ‘the Queen of Twitter’. Read about it here.
