Journalist Marie Le Conte‘s brilliant 2022 book Escape: How a generation shaped, destroyed and survived the internet is a fascinating insight into growing up online. I feature in former BBC Newsnight / Channel 4 News economist Paul Mason‘s 2012 book Why It’s Kicking Off Everywhere: The New Global Revolutions – talking about my Internet use for social change and general socialising. It also has my overly honest quote ‘I tweet in my dreams’ as a chapter title.
Kitchen Sink Films and Quark Films have made a wonderful 2012 documentary called The Real Social Network about the use of new media and technology in our ‘new generation of protest’. I’m quite a main character in it and awkwardly refer to myself as ‘the Queen of Twitter’. Read about it here.
